Try Tai Chi
Tai Chi began about 2500 years ago, an offshoot of the martial arts, such as Kung Fu. But Tai Chi was never meant to be a killing or maiming technique; it was born to be practice. It engages softer, rounded, flowing, shadow boxing, and underwater kinds of motions.
The motions are named after animals, winds, and directions and are patterned to be graceful and efficient. Listen to their names: Bird Perching; Touch the East Wind; Defy the Dragon; Snake Creeps down; Part the Wild Horses Mane.
Tai Chi is meant to engage fully the brain, senses and physical body so the rhythms of the day could be made smooth again. There are harder and softer forms, as well as longer and shorter forms.
Tai Chi really does not have the magical healing and mystical powers which some leaders ascribe to it. It is very low impact, it can be done alone or in concert with thousands of others. It is completely portable. No equipment is required which makes it a natural for todays busy traveling persons.
It imparts a quiet inner strength while enhancing flexibility and bodily movement. You can also tire your body and gain refreshing sleep more readily.
It unquestionably can be learned from a book, but many video choices are available and are easier than having to stop and reread the book so often. The best way remains by a Masters example.
