Dear Dr. Dixon,

I have an ACL-deficient left knee, and stationary cycle, walk and do exercises with ankle weights. I'd like to take up Tai Chi -- does that pose a risk to my knee in its current condition?

Dear K: If you can wear your brace, at least when you are starting T'ai
Chi, your knee shouldn't be a problem. You are doing all the right things to
keep your muscles extra strong, which they need to be to compensate for your
absent ACL ligament.

George L. Dixon, Jr., M.D.
