Dear Dr. Dixon,

I have lost 52 lbs since June when I began exercising regularly on my treadmill to the VideoStride tapes and modifying my diet by cutting out all real cokes and other regular soft drinks and nearly all types of fast-food restaurants.  I have relied heavily on SlimFast for breakfast daily (which I thoroughly enjoy) and lunch at least 4 or 5 times a week.  I have been eating mostly low fat dinners in the evening.  I started on the treadmill in June and was only able to reach 2.5-2.8 mph for about 15 min before having to quit.  I now walk between 20-30 minutes 5-7 days per week with an aerobic session of at least 15 minutes at speeds of 3.3-3.8 mph during my walk.  I truly enjoy my walks with my VideoStride and VideoHiker videos as I am always invigorated by them and more ready to start my day afterwards.  I am concerned though that I have not been able to lose weight nearly as quickly anymore.  I haven't lost a pound in the last 2 weeks and I am exercising almost daily.  My question is:  How can I increase my metabolism/fitness beyond its current level?  I still need to lose about 25 to 30 lbs in order to be at my goal weight.  I am 33 years old (male) and currently weigh 207.  I am 5'10" tall.  Is there any advice you can offer me that would help me in my quest to improve my fitness and expedite further weight loss?  Thank you in advance for your response.

1. Serious congratulations are due you, sir. Keep up the same workout+5below.
2. You may be a solid, strong boned person and may not need nearly 30 more pounds weight loss.
3.You are, as we speak, changing lightweight fat to heavy muscle.
4.I do wonder if you are geting enough fiber with your diet of mostly slimfast.
5.Try adding some upper extremity work every 2-3 days.
6. Except for Thanksgiving, I'll bet your weight loss has begun again by the time it has taken for me to answer your question.
