Dear Dr. Dixon,

I have a home gym that only has bench press and flys what are some other things that i can do to build my upper body.ex like push ups or something in that matter. i am 16 yrs old and i weigh 120 lbs. and i am 5 ' 6 '' your answer is greatly appreciated.

Dear Dave,

Actually bench presses and flies are a good start.  Without seeing your machine and your workout log it is hard for me to comment.  However I will say that you should concentrate first on large muscle groups and you should also be careful to maintain balance between front and back and between upper and lower body.

Get a book to go with the home gym. Visit the coach or trainer at your school who can help you and suggest patterns and sets to your advantage. Don't neglect aerobic cardiac 2 to 3 times a week. Strength training is very important, which you already recognize.
