Dear PB,

Two weeks ago I would have said   there is no way to change it.  However the FDA has at least declared safe, a new technique named, I think, "Endermology", to be partially successful for some period of time.   I DO NOT know any thing about it except it is probably expensive.  Suggest you call around.   Otherwise, nothing has changed the orange-peel look, one can hope this will.

  1. What is cellulite?   It is what the appearance of skin, fat and strands of tissue running perpendicular to the skin is called.  It looks likethe peel of an orange.
  2. How does one get it?   It just happens, it is not a disease.
  3. Is it a form of "stretch marks" like some women have after childbirth?     No, "stretch marks" are from the skin being stretched out like a pie crust over a balloon.
  4. Is cellulite dangerous in any way?     No.  Not unless you beat yourself black and blue trying to get rid of it.
  5. If cellulite is fat, why does it look different than other fat?   Because the normal fat is contained between and around those perpendicular strands of tissue running vertically up to the under-side of the skin.
  6. If one can lose fat, why can't one lose cellulite the same way?   The fat can be lost to a certain extent, but only as you generally lose fat.  It cannot be lost locally, only sometimes made to look differently, probably by softening and stretching out the cords running up to the under layer of skin.
  7. Is it genetic?    Probably.   No one knows how to produce it, even if someone wanted some of it.
